Grants…
I just love writing grants to get materials for my classroom and our township has teamed up with www.donorschoose.org to help us get them. I’ve just started writing grants with them in October and I have been so amazed at all the wonderful people out there willing to donate money to my classroom-children they don’t even know!
Some of the grants I’ve received this year are:
Earthworm/Composting materials: I asked for 4 composting bins, materials (worms and dirt) and an Earthworm Big Book
Monarch Butterflies: I asked for money to purchase milkweed plants, Monarch butterflies/chrysalids, shovels, Big Book, and a classroom set of little books to match the Big Book (A Butterfly is Born by Melvin Berger)
Greenhouses: This one was just funded yesterday! I asked for 2 mini green houses so that we can plant things year round! Each greenhouse will hold 10-15 plants at a time.
Wisconsin Fast Plants: If you haven’t tried these–you’ve got to!!! They grow from seed to seed in 40 days and the kids can harvet the seeds and plant new plants. We keep a journal and track their growth (the journal is on the Forms tab”.
I also have grants currently posted for more Games for my classroom, Leap Pads, Math Materials/Learning Centers, and a Magnet Lab.
So ask and see if your school district is partnered with Donor’s Choose–it’s easy to write grants, they give you a form! I’m always so excited to read about the reasons people donated money, and I love to write about why I donated money as well!
Kristen 🙂
