Thanks for your question…the easy answer is that most of what I do during my morning comes from the Building Blocks book (Four Blocks for Kindergarten). The mini-lessons during Writer’s Workshop come from Lucy Caulkin’s Writer’s Workshop books. Open Court comes from the Imagine It! series from the SRA people. The easiest way to explain what happens during Morning Message, Shared Reading, and Predictable Chart times is to get a copy of the Building Blocks teacher book and read through that. The only thing I do is add big books and content more specific to what we are doing in my classroom at that particular time. My Shared Reading always goes along with my Predictable Chart and 99% of the time will have some connection to Science.
