Quick as a Cricket

Our big book this past week was Quick as a Cricket.  I created a reader to use with this story and the children liked filling in the blanks I had left in the sentences for them.

We also used these Boardmaker pictures I found through a pin on Pinterest to help us tell the story.  I printed them out, laminated them, and after a few minutes of thinking, decided to apply Velcro to the back of the pictures and magnets to the back of the sentence frame:

The pocket charts that they have in the Target Dollar Spot each year are great at holding the pictures.  I put the sentence frame on my easel and 19 of the kids (exactly how many were present that day out of 26–strep is going around!) came up and took one action picture and one animal picture and placed them in the appropriate places. 🙂
