My favorite gingerbread idea would have to be having the students create their own gingerbread boy or girl. The come out too cute! I also love reading Gingerbread Books!

Each year we enjoy making gingerbread! It’s a great culminating activity and it reinforces step-by-step directions. We also get some unique gingerbread animals and people too! Plus it makes our room smell so yummy.

My favorite gingerbread idea is to have the children decorate their gingerbread cutout with oil pastels. I then hang these in the hall in the shape of a triangle Christmas tree. I fill in the gaps with construction paper holly.

I made gingerbread playdough for my kinders to use. They LOVE it! Got the recipe off Pinterest, of course!

I love having the children graph their first bite of a ginderbread man. I also have them write adjectives about their gingerbread man using their senses. They also get to create their own gingerbread man to hang up on our bulletin board.

It’s my first year teaching Kindergarten in about 18 years. I love all the ideas on the blogs I have been reading. We are currently reading different variations of the Gingerbread man story, charting the characters, refrains, and endings, and making a journal. I got the idea from a unit I purchased on TPT from Deanna Jump called “Gingerbread Man Math and Literacy Fun”. I love all the ideas. I would really love to explore the ideas in your unit. It sounds great!

I love the whole gingerbread theme! I love to read the variations on the story, and we end it up on the last day making a big gingerbread man, playing on the theme of his running away from us! SOOOO much fun!! I follow you on TPT and Like you on FB and subscribe to your blog via email.

I enjoy making gingerbread houses with my students at the end of our gingerbread unit . We use milk cartons. I have parents hot glue graham crackers to the carton to make the house. The children use craft sticks to put on loads of icing and candy. They love it! We then complete a math sheet where each child counts…I used 5 peppermints, 12 marshmallows, etc. The houses are hot glued to a medium size chinet plate and wrapped in clear wrap with ribbon at the top. We invite parents to help, to make the process run smoothly. One year we had an expert volunteer who loved to bake and she used royal icing instead. It works well and no hot glue needed !

I love having a Gingerbread Man Hunt through the school. I leave clues with short poems in different classrooms and offices in the school and the students have to figure out the clue and try to find where the gingerbread man is “running to” The students love it!!

I love making gingerbread houses with my kiddos too. I also love reading the book, making the men, and then they’re gone when we go to get them out of the oven. I didn’t do that one this year, because the Pre-K classes were doing it. They did it this past week, and when they came to my room asking if we knew where he was, my kindergarteners wanted so badly to go help them look. It was so cute! Maybe next year we’ll just have to do it too.
