Magical Monday
Magical Monday is when I share my favorite new pins that I’ve pinned recently on Pinterest. 🙂
Here are the pins:
Love, love, loving this objective board from Mrs. Blas’s Class Blog! I’ll be working on ways to make this a little more Kinder friendly this summer. I’ll probably use these awesome Common Core Standards Posters I got from Deanna Jump to help me. 🙂
I love how Mrs. Albanese incorporates syllable work into her student’s names! Wouldn’t this be great at the beginning of the year as part of a getting to know you activity?
Here’s another idea for getting to know you activities from Kathleen at Growing Kinders. I like all the different word work components she has incorporated into using a child’s name. You could pick a different child each day and work your way through your classroom. I would probably do this activity in October/November, once my kiddos had a chance to learn some sight words, word parts, and the differences between vowels and consonants.
I think I would write the letters in the child’s name on small post-it-notes (can’t tell if that’s what Kathleen did here or not) so that they could be moved around to make sight words. This activity would be do great for so many levels of kiddos! Your non readers could match letters to sounds, your early readers could tell you the consonants and vowels and some word chunks, and your readers could help you find sight words and other words they know. What a great idea!
Glad I pinned it! 🙂 Now to be able to find these pins again when I need them! 🙂
