More Classroom Pictures 2013-2014

I’ve been working in my classroom this week and here’s a look at what I’ve done:

IMG_0816

I got this shelf at IKEA earlier this week and I’m going to use it for my Literacy Work Stations.ย  The kiddos will come get their bucket (going to add labels to them) and then take them to the assigned place. ๐Ÿ™‚ I’ll share more about my IKEA trip this week. ๐Ÿ™‚IMG_0817

I’m using the large binder clips as name cards on my mailboxes this year.ย  I usually use stickers right inside the box, but when they put papers in, you can’t see their name anymore, so this will help with that problem! ๐Ÿ™‚IMG_0818

I made some curtains to cover up my shelves. IMG_0819

This is what those curtains are covering up! ๐Ÿ™‚IMG_0820

My new fish tank. I thought it would be a calming thing for my kiddos.ย  What kinds of fish to get? ๐Ÿ™‚

IMG_0821

My Guided Reading table.ย  The stars are dry erase and removable. I got them from Oriental Trading. ๐Ÿ™‚IMG_0822

These are my Reading A-Z books I use during some guided reading groups. I need to make a few more labels (I didn’t know I had so many books at those levels!).ย  This shelf will get a curtain as well next week…I just need to finish hemming it. IMG_0823

Here are my new supply buckets from IKEA.ย  Each 1/2 table will have one of these buckets (you’ll see better pictures of that further down in this post).ย  IMG_0824

This is what one basket will look like.ย  Crayons will go in the ziploc containers.ย  After I went and bought all the containers, I realized I probably had enough for my whole classroom at home with all my other plastic containers! ๐Ÿ™‚IMG_0825

I did have two of these shelves holding dry erase boards and clipboards under my Promethean board earlier this week, but after thinking about it, I was worried that the kiddos couldn’t reach the board, so I moved the dry erase boards to another space and combined the clipboards. IMG_0826

Our Science/Social Studies area. ๐Ÿ™‚IMG_0827

My hardware drawer organizer that I made earlier this summer. ๐Ÿ™‚IMG_0828

The shelf of Games & Puzzles.ย  The kids can use these items during Discovery time and during indoor recess. ๐Ÿ™‚IMG_0829

My counter where I put items I will need during each of my lessons. ๐Ÿ™‚IMG_0830

My new word wall circles (they are available in my Tpt store!).ย  I have temporary magnets holding them up right now until I figure out how I want to keep them on the board. IMG_0831

My husband (who is also a teacher) came to school today to bring lunch and then he took down the green paper on these bulletin boards and put up black so they all would match! ๐Ÿ™‚ย  We think it helps the Promethean Board blend in as well. ๐Ÿ™‚IMG_0832

Here is a look at the right side of my classroom.ย  You can see the table baskets on the tables.ย  Each 1/2 of the table will share one basket.ย  IMG_0833

Here is the left side of my classroom. ๐Ÿ™‚IMG_0834

A view a little more to the left.ย  The round table will be for my assistant to do interventions.

IMG_0835

My collection of baggie books/take home books. IMG_0836

The sink/fish tank and pencil sharpener.ย  Sharp pencils go in the blue basket, un-sharp pencils in the pink basket. IMG_0837

This is a view of the inside of “the office” in my room.ย  I can walk through this room to the K room next door to mine. ๐Ÿ™‚ย  This is my side of the office. We mostly use it for storage! ๐Ÿ™‚IMG_0838

Here is a look looking out from the office into my classroom. IMG_0839

Right next to the office, there is a closet that I share with the teacher next door.ย  It used to be a restroom, but they took out the toilet and put in shelves for us to store things on.ย  This cart you see is our cart of science materials. IMG_0840

This is a look at some of the the shelves in the closet.ย  We have a random assortment of everything! ๐Ÿ™‚IMG_0841

Another look at my new shelves from IKEA!ย  I love them!ย  The rainbow cart will be my Math Work Stations and on top of the white shelf, is our “Welcome Area”ย  The children will be able turn in their homework folders in the yellow bucket and pick up their morning folder or morning work where you see the white bucket.ย  I used to have this happen right inside my door, but it was getting so congested!ย  The kiddos would stop right inside the door, put their backpacks down and unload everything there, so this is going to move that activity out of the doorway! ๐Ÿ™‚IMG_0842

  6. Kristen- Love your room! Can you tell me how you manage morning work? I’ve never tried it before, but am thinking of doing it this year. We have breakfast in my room as soon as our kiddos arrive, and up until now, the children have been reading books while they wait for all to finish. Any suggestions? And what kinds of things do you put in it?

Having seen the storage closet the last five years, this is an improvement that would make any home organizer feel proud! It’s like a successful episode from Hoarders!!! Now to help you keep it that way.
