Swaps

Hi All!

I’ve had lots of e-mails asking if I know where everyone’s swap packages are…I do not have any knowledge as to when they will arrive at individual locations or cities.  I was given a date as to when I could expect them to begin arriving, but did not get a window as to when they would all be delivered.  Please be patient as they all arrive to their locations.  Group 2 was shipped by UPS, however about 7 of the group 1 people participated in both swaps and their packages were delayed in being mailed until I had received all the group 1 swaps.

Group 1 swaps were mailed last Saturday by USPS and many were mailed the slowest, cheapest way possible to stay with in costs (and I had to pay $150 out of my pocket to make up the difference).  So I ask you to please be patient–there was no way I could pay to have delivery confirmation put on each package, that would have cost WAAAY to much! 🙂

Please let me know if you have received your package. 🙂  I’m crossing names off my list so I can tell when packages are being delivered where. 🙂

Swap Sharing

Hi All!

I’m ready to share some of the swaps I’ve received over the last month.  I’m going to share a few at a time (and the downloads if there are any).  I thought I would share most of them as I use them in my classroom–just need some time to unpack them! 🙂

Here are a few to tide you over:

Kari created several extra “Spin a Sight Word” sheets:

spin a letter chart

spin a letter chart 2

Spin a Top Game alphabet docx.

Shelisa created the “Buggy Dice” and workmats and she sent along the templates for the dice so you could make more if you wanted to:

Shelisa also has a store at Teacher’s Pay Teachers…check out her work here. 🙂

Maggie (from maggieskindercorner.blogspot.com) provided this pdf for you to make your own sight word envelopes:

Making Words Swap file

Beth Stovall sent these graphics and words for making your own “Pop corn word” mats:

Temporarily removed while Beth works on a few things. 🙂

Sarah McEwen sent the playdough math workmats:

play dough numbers 1-10

Here are the directions from Becky Mogee for the Five-Ten Frame paint chips:

And last but not least, here are the swaps from Yvonne:

I’ll post pictures of the rest when I use them in the next few weeks.  Also, if you swapped with us and are able to send along pictures or documents like the ones above, I’ll post them! 🙂

ALL the swaps are getting mailed out…

in the morning! 🙂  I can’t believe how much bigger my living room and dining room look!  I didn’t realize I had this much room! 🙂  I am missing a few addresses, so I e-mailed those people to ask them, but I still need an address for Christy Phillips (please e-mail it to me at fuzzlady77@hotmail.com). 🙂  The boxes are stacked 4 high on my couch and loveseat and I am already imagining the looks from the nice people at the post office in the morning! 🙂

I’ve already decided that for the next swaps, everything MUST fit in one of the large post office mailing envelopes, but no more boxes! 🙂  I think I will also be limiting the number to 10 for each of the swaps because I can’t keep running huge stacks of boxes to the post office. 🙂    I will however, be sure to always share the pictures and downloads on my blog for those who cannot get in to the next swap.

Please let me know if you have received or when you receive your swap box.  The last group was sent by UPS and my brother who works for FEDEX swares that UPS looses packages right and left.  Many of you from the 2nd group should have received them by now…so just let me know by commenting on this post. 🙂

I’ll get started posting the swaps and pictures soon.  Just waiting for some sunny days to get the lighting right.  Don’t forget, if you need to e-mail me your swaps, please do that so I can get them posted online.

This has been fun for me–I LOVE getting mail! 🙂  But I’ve also learned a bit about organizing this whole thing and keeping everything straight. 🙂

The Swaps are leaving!

I’ve received all the Group #2 swaps and mailed 2/3 of them today. I was trying to get to the UPS store before it closed today! There were about 5 people who only participated in one of the swaps (math or literacy only instead of both) so I sorted those out after I mailed the swaps of the people who participated in both. Now that I’ve completely confused everyone, I just wanted to tell you that I’ve started mailing out swaps!!!!! For the 12 that I shipped today, look out for them on Wednesday or Thursday this week. My goal is to get more mailed early this week, but school starts Monday, so it may be a few days before I get to that! 🙂
I started sorting out everything last night and quickly decided I needed a system to figure out who was supposed to get what, so created a check sheet that you will find in your swap box when you receive it. I think I got everything right, as I have the correct number of swaps for myself left over, but you might find an extra goodies in your box! 🙂
Here’s what it looks like when I was sorting:

I’ll let you know when I mail more! I’m waiting on one more Group #1 swap and then those will start to go out!

Almost ready…

I’m almost ready to send out the swaps.  I’m just waiting on the last 2 or 3 to arrive.  They should be here within the next day or so, then it’s off to the post office for me x 43 boxes!!  My husband (who is such a wonderful problem solver) is busy thinking up creative ways to repackage all the swaps and get them back to you.  We visited the post office tonight looking at several options and the best idea seems to be to purchase boxes and then pay the post office the cost to mail it to your zip codes rather than go with the flat rate box.  I’m going to to some trial runs with the Group 2 Literacy swaps because that’s the only group I’ve received all the swaps for so far.

We all need to give him a standing ovation for putting up with all of this!! 🙂  He’s put up with 60 boxes in our living room and has helped me count and sort and stack and collect and read all of your wonderful swaps!! 🙂  Thanks Mike!! 🙂

There is a chance that one of the math swaps will only receive 19 items back–there is one person I have not heard back from yet after e-mailing them several times, so I just want you to know that! 🙂

I’m busy working on the next swap idea…but it won’t happen until after school starts (Monday) and then swaps would be due near the end of October.  I am also the popcorn kernel for our boy scout pack and so I’m busy organizing everything for that–because I didn’t have enough to do already! 🙂  After September 22nd, if you need some yummy boy scout popcorn–I can hook you up!! 🙂

Thinking ahead to the next swap…it seems that everyone has an interest in Math, Science, and Sight word swaps and I’ve had several suggestions about doing an electronic swap instead of a mail swap–we would all contribute an idea and then everyone would e-mail it to me to post in one place, or I could combine all the ideas and e-mail them out to everyone…still working on that part! 🙂

Updated list…

I’ve updated the post called “Christmas SWAP” a few posts ago sharing whose packages I’ve received.

If I haven’t gotten my your package yet and you haven’t let me know that it will be late or that it’s on its way…please let me know how much longer your package will be! 🙂

I have to go back to school soon and if I don’t get all the swaps soon…it’s going to be REALLY slow going in me getting them packaged up and sent back to you.  I will not have much time to get them out all at once after the 30th, so PLEASE let me know if your swap is going to be held up.

We are already 2 days past the date they needed to be here and I have 12 more out of the 1st group that are still out and 4 more from the 2nd group that haven’t arrived yet.

THANK YOU to all of you who took time to let me know that your package is on the way…I make a note of it and look out for them in the days after that. 🙂

SWAP Christmas!!

It’s like swap Christmas at my house!  I’ve received about 1/2 of all the swaps so far and here’s what it looks like (you can read below the pictures to see if I’ve received your swap yet):

21 packages so far!!  Yesterday, the mailman asked if he could just leave the packages outside my door instead of taking them back to the post office–YES!!  He left them piled up today in front of my front door and it was fun to climb over them! 🙂

Swaps are due soon! :)

Hi All!

For those of you swapping, don’t forget that I need them as close to the 23rd as possible! 🙂  I know many of you e-mailed today and said you put them in the mail to me already or just today–that’s awesome!  I’ve received about 1/4 of all the swaps so far, so keep them coming!  I’m opening each one and enjoying the WONDERFUL little notes and surprises that you all are writing/sending to me!  LOVE THEM!!  I’ll begin posting the swaps as soon as I get them packaged up to send.  I’ve been photographing them as you are sending them to me. 🙂

If you swap will be late, please let me know so I know when to look for them!

Kristen 🙂

The swaps are arriving!!

Look what my husband picked up from the post office today!!  I’m sure the mailmen/women will be thrilled with me in a few more days! 🙂  I like to think that we are stimulating the post office economy! 🙂

SOOO excited!!

Don’t forget to e-mail me a copy of your swaps (and the direction sheet) once they are done.  🙂

Kristen 🙂

My swaps

Here are several of my swaps that are ready to go!  Just waiting for their swap friends to arrive!  I’m almost done packaging up the missing letter and the cookie sheet challenge pages.
