Math Swaps
I’ve decided I’m going to host two SMALL swaps this month. Each swap group will only be open to TEN people and you need to be willing to get your packages to me on time, or you will not be able to participate. You may NOT sign up for both swaps, one or the other. Also, unlike during my last swap, I will not provide any ideas via Pinterest, you will have to come up with or send us your favorite activity based on the group you are in. You are welcome to use Pinterest for inspiration, but I will not create a board this time. 🙂
Please make sure your swap is of HIGH quality, and ready to use in a classroom with little preparation for the receiving teacher.
The first swap is about Addition and Subtraction (pick one or the other, not both to create an activity for). You will create an activity to teach children either addition or subtraction. It is okay if the activity teaches both, but it does not have to. Please align it to the new Common Core Standards for Math (the standards that apply to addition and subtraction)

The second swap is about Measurement (short/tall, long/short, heavy/light, etc.). You will create one swap to help students learn about one idea of measurement as listed in the new Common Core Math Standards.

ALL swaps must fit in a FLAT RATE shipping box from the US Post Office upon shipping them to me and you MUST include at least $15.00 to cover the cost of return shipping (if it costs more than that to ship it to me, add in what you need to to cover that amount for return shipping). If you do not send return shipping money, I will not return any swaps to you.
Include 11 copies of your swap and directions in your Flat Rate box. I will send one copy of your swap back to you and 10 out to the other swappers. I will participate in both swaps, but will not take up one of the ten spaces. I will also make 11 copies of each activity.
ALL swaps are due to me NO LATER than February 8th to be mailed back to you beginning on February 15th. If you cannot get your package to me by the 8th, please do not sign up to participate in the swap. If you sign up and become unable to complete your swap, please let me know ASAP, so we can replace your spot.
To sign up, you need to send me an e-mail to fuzzlady77@hotmail.com with the name of the group you would like to swap in (Addition/Subtraction or Measurement). I will take the first ten e-mails for each group and then create a waiting list of 5 names after that for each group (in the event that someone needs to drop out).
Please, do not sign up if you do not intend to follow through with sending your swaps. I will send out completed swaps even if I do not receive your swaps in time and you will not receive any in return, so PLEASE make sure they are on time. It is not fair to other swappers if you do not follow through when they have.
If you have ANY questions, please let me know BEFORE you sign up. Please read this post CAREFULLY so you know exactly what you are to do.
In your box:
-swap activity with directions for use
-at least $15.00 for return shipping (checks made out to me: Kristen Poindexter) or paypal is accepted (fuzzlady77@hotmail.com), but do not send it via pay-pal until you have been confirmed as a participant.
I will confirm via e-mail if you are a participant and will send you my shipping address at that time. Do not create anything for this swap until I have confirmed your participation. I received over 150 e-mails requesting swap spots for my last swap, so early e-mailers will get in on the swap! 🙂

ALL the swaps are getting mailed out…
in the morning! 🙂 I can’t believe how much bigger my living room and dining room look! I didn’t realize I had this much room! 🙂 I am missing a few addresses, so I e-mailed those people to ask them, but I still need an address for Christy Phillips (please e-mail it to me at fuzzlady77@hotmail.com). 🙂 The boxes are stacked 4 high on my couch and loveseat and I am already imagining the looks from the nice people at the post office in the morning! 🙂
I’ve already decided that for the next swaps, everything MUST fit in one of the large post office mailing envelopes, but no more boxes! 🙂 I think I will also be limiting the number to 10 for each of the swaps because I can’t keep running huge stacks of boxes to the post office. 🙂 I will however, be sure to always share the pictures and downloads on my blog for those who cannot get in to the next swap.
Please let me know if you have received or when you receive your swap box. The last group was sent by UPS and my brother who works for FEDEX swares that UPS looses packages right and left. Many of you from the 2nd group should have received them by now…so just let me know by commenting on this post. 🙂
I’ll get started posting the swaps and pictures soon. Just waiting for some sunny days to get the lighting right. Don’t forget, if you need to e-mail me your swaps, please do that so I can get them posted online.
This has been fun for me–I LOVE getting mail! 🙂 But I’ve also learned a bit about organizing this whole thing and keeping everything straight. 🙂
Kristen 🙂
